Note individuelle : Brian was Deputy Chairman of Dawnay, Day International Limited and was a senior partner at Deloitte & Touche. He started their financial services practice and led a number of major assignments, including the winding up of Banco Ambrosiano and BCCI. He also spent three years leading the audit of the World Bank, and is experienced in working with governments, regulators and in bank acquisitions and disposals.,
He was one of the main liquidators of the bank. BCCI was shut down by regulators after frauds worth over $10bn were discovered. Mr Smouha was particularly adept at negotiating with the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi and his representatives - the Sheikh owned 77 per cent of BCCI when it was shut, and played a key role in providing compensation to creditors.
