Note individuelle : Translator and publisher of Boris Pasternak (Dr Jhivago) in the West in the 60's youngest daughter of Grigori Benenson, a Russian-Jewish banker with world wide interests. She was born in Baku on April 8 1906
the family was in Germany when the Soviets took power in Russia so they traveled to England where they settled
she studied at Oxford later on and went on a trip to Palestine where she met Ralph Harari, who was working for the British Administration
They were married 4 months later in Paris
They returned to Egypt where Ralph's father, Sir Albert Harari lived and Ralph was involved in various developments schemes.
During her time in Egypt, Manya was involved in many charitable activities including La Goutte de Lait
in 1931 she was received in the Catholic faith by Father D'Arcy
she founded HARVILL Press with a friend, Marjorie Villiers (hence the name Harvill Press) that was taken over by Collins some years later
in May 1969, Ralph Harari died and she died 4 months later.
